Hit a brookie stream yesterday in search of some big fish and trying to make the most of the forecast given.  Rain ended up holding off, but around 1 when the rain finally did come and the barometric pressure dropped, the bite disappeared all together.  Fishing was hot up till then though so no complaints.  brought close to 30 to hand with several in 8 - 10 inch range, friend got one that was over that.

Stalk softly and carry a green stick.

You bastages.
We are going back with the month.
Dry fly bite should be epic.

I have yet to time the dry fly action there. We need to make it happen

That was sweet. Good report.

I can't see the Redstart, I guess I'm blind.

Many of the brookies you guys post are colored up differently than ones I see. Reminds me of some I caught in WV a while back.

Great brookies, dudes!

Big J

From a distance and blurry, but he is here.

That's where I was looking. I see now. That's an awesome bird.

Nice—-whats your small stream rod of choice (length/wt)?

These posts always make me want salted, cured meats.

Typically I'm throwing a 7'6" 2wt.  Saturday I was throwing a 4wt because it was a little bigger of a stream with a chance for bigger fish.

Damn, those are some good looking brookies.  bd;0

Great looking fish and scenery.  I don't know where that is, but I want to go.  All of the brookie streams I've hit around here are high gradient and rather small.  This stream is about twice the size i usually fish and looks pretty flat.  That pool at the base of the rock wall just warms my heart.  I could sit there all day and not catch a single fish.

So did you pull a tape on the "lucky peckerhead" fish?

Yup.  A little under 11.5" .  Was surprised it wasn't a 12" fish when we did put the tape to him.  The thickness of that fish had me deceived.
