Somehow I managed to go to Florida and catch nothing bigger than a brook trout.  So it goes...

We left for the airport at 4am and got back 3 days later at 2:30am. 


Psyched about playing with a toy I don't play with enough.


Looked for Bron Bron on his bike then headed south.


Checked in and rigged the 8 weight and then quickly found myself being overly optimistic about DIY in the Keys.


Caught some of these guys...juvenile amberjack?




Enjoyed good food and drink the whole trip.




Day 2, sunrise with a headache.


Headed further south to Marathon and made some stops along the way.


Saw and hunted for some bigger barracuda but only managed the little ones.




And one of these.


Turned around and headed back in time to catch the sun setting.




Then, later that night, finally made a good presentation.  Wait five years, sneak into a lodge you can't afford, order some schmancy drinks, walk out to the pier, drop to one knee in the midst of gale force winds, hope for the best...


Day 3 was good. 


And I certainly won't mind coming back here one day to celebrate the occasion. 0:0

Thanks guys.  Initial talks have it looking like this thing is going to happen in 2012..which will add a bit of urgency to this year's fishing regimen.  Onward...
