4 to 6 inches where I'm feeesh'in tomorrow.....should be a good day!
I have a new midge pattern I want to try out.........
Im going to try fishing the Smith before it hits. With the generation schedule it looks like I can fish a couple hours in the lower river and a couple hours farther up stream in the afternoon.
WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON FRIDAY TO 7 PM EST SATURDAY... STORM TOTAL SNOW AMOUNTS AROUND A FOOT ARE EXPECTED.
Karl,
Nice looking midge for sure. Where are you fishing tomorrow??
They have turned the Watauga off in the mornings for the last 3-4 days
The Holston has generally fished really bad this fall due to the excessive generation.
Knox and I have been trying to duck hunt, but there is no way with this much water coming out of Holston Dam
JT
John,
I'm probably going to stay close to home tomorrow, some where in the western NC mountains, I am sure the parkway will be closed, so high elevations might be out of the question.
i have to wait and see what happens with school and wrestling tournaments....
Jeez...the Weather Channel is saying this storm dumped 12" of rain on Florida. Hope you all have your bread and milk ;D

Dont forget the toilet paper :)
The 3 items that always have a run when the storms are approaching. Milk, Bread and TP.
Never could understand that when its going to be out of here by Sunday. When I lived in Northern Viriginia it was always that way though.

Time is 3:30 PM and it is snowing very hard in The Tenn. mtns now.
It rained till 2:00 Pm and then changed to snow and every flake has stuck. I would guess aout 2 inches within the last 1 and 1/2 hours
JT
about 8 inches in Canton, NC (WNC)!!!!!!!!!!
we've got an inch or two now, still coming down hard... saw 5 or 6 wrecks on my drive around town... :)
about 2 or so inches here and still coming down...
Hell, I've had 2 feet for the last 2 weeks! If I come home for Christmas and I have snow, I think I'll puke! Wisconsin SUCKS!!!!!! This is "White Hell"!
Snowing like crazy here. I hit the Smith just as the water had gone down about 2PM. It had just started snowing. I fished for not even 2 hours. Caught a few. I didnt want to stay too long because I have a full size fan with rear wheel drive. I got home ok but it was slow going and there already was a serious accident that I saw on the way. Pretty wet snow so I started getting cold and also was having trouble seeing my strike indicator in the snow. I saw a couple of risers. Probably the dumb stocked rainbows trying to eat snow :) There was probably 2-3 inches on the ground when I got to the van. They are still saying we will get 12-18 inches with more toward the moutains.

If I really get tired of sitting around the house I guess I could walk down to the Fieldale bridge tomorrow and fish. :)

Yep, The Neuse River was interesting today, snowed for about 20 mins around 1PM. No action whatsoever during this time, then as soon as it stopped, the red horse suckers were on it! Now our roads here in Raleigh are slurpie avenues!!! Can't make it to the mtns this weekend so y'all hook up the preferred species out west.
Everyone be safe and have an enjoyable weekend, whatever you get into...

Now that looks really nice Peewee. I can see why you arent going anywhere.
I'm headed out the door in a few minutes, if its anything like yesterday, I'll have the water to myself!!! 0--0
To quote an old sage (croaker)....."Ain't snow grand!".... ;D
good luck TP!
if I can get out of the driveway by this afternoon I'm fishin' dammit...
Right now 81 near Blacksburg is shut down. Have a look at the Blacksburg cam on trafficland.com
Looks like we have about 12 inches so far here in Fieldale.
yep, big mess out there (just guessing, cause I'm inside, he he he)
if you go out be careful and watch out for the other crazies

The main roads are fine. I went to HH Gregg this afternoon and no one was there. Nice
The outlaws in VA got 15-18" of snow. 29 was shut down from Lovingston headed north to C'ville.
18 inches on tha ground in Shady Valley now and calling for another 3-4 tonight.
Thank God that I have a generator. The power folks are saying that the power will be out for another 3-4 days.
Stone-Man putting more wood on fire now

Hells Bells ,
It snowed another 5-6 inches last night. No power and my generator is running low on fuel. Plus my 4X4 is stuck to hell in the drive.
Might take me a few slugs of Lightning
35 degrees in tha house :P o-o
JT
well you still have the interweb....
is you will up to date?
Dang ---- Finally got power back on at 4:30 this afternoon. --4 days in tha dark.
Looks like it will be another couple of days b/4 I can get off the mountain, but I don't give a damn. I am warm for the 1st time since Friday and a warm supper was enjoyed.
My best guess is that we got 21 inches of snow this weekend

So when power goes out - do you go to a generator, or just wood stove/fireplace and outhouse.
It can be "challenging" (or even fun if you have no external obligations)
J.T., I am glad you survived. I imagine the bear is hibernating so your feeders ought to be safe. ;D Where the heck is Blake?

Damn! I had dibs on his stuff if he froze to death ;D
Glad the power came back on JT. Won't that generator run on the purple stuff? 0--0
5X ... Damnifiknow where Blake is. I think he is in Rembert.
Flat .. I ain't running a generator on Lightning. Stuff is too hard to get ;D
JWGNC ... yes, I go to a generator, but it draws too much amperage if I turn on a heater or the water heater. We were able to cook a little using just 1 eye on the stove. A buddy of mine got his 4 wheeler to the house and we got out and were able to get more fuel .
My best guess is that I will be stranded for at least 2 more days. It is about 35 degrees here now (12 :25 P M) and a little thaw is beginning
now !!
JT
JT, if you insist on living on the backside of nowhere, I think a Coleman stove and lantern would be a good investment. Heck, even here just outside Raleigh, I've had to resort to my camping gear for cooking and light several times.
Glad to hear you survived, though.
JT...
here is your Christmas present:
