The President's 2008 budget calls for cuts of $147 million. This would be devastating to the future of public broadcasting. Congress knows this. What they don't know is how public broadcasting affects your life and what the local and national programming found on NPR and PBS has meant to you and your family.

Let the socialist and fascists pay for their own radio and tv like every other station in the free market does. Why should should the government fund NPR and PBS and not other radio and tv stations? Write congress and tell them to stay out of your life

PBS has one show I watch occasionally, but I would not support them for that show alone.

There news line up is heavily democrat biased, this amounts to free press for liberal views, a few examples are the BBC and Front Line. Gov. funding of a political view
should not be allowed.

Show if they get canceld for lack of funds, too bad. Let them sell avdertizing like the other networks.
Then they can get off the welfair line.

I agree with woowe. I support PBS, I think about 50% of their programing is worthwhile and interesting.


I also agree with TM, the government has no business funding any broadcasting, about 50% is socialist bullshit which I wish weren't on the air, but then there is the first amendment. Since the director of PBS has been changed the good vs bad is probably closer to 60/40, but the 40% is worth several hundred dollars a year to me.

Rush, Hannity, Hair Club for Men ads? How the Hell should I know for sure? What I can guess though by your reponse so far is just what I stated plus you must like advertising because your 'free market' media isn't so free when your time is wasted listening to or watching more and more ads for BS stuff.

Please explain to me why you think the government should fund public tv and radio?

I would rather do what I did, follow Wooleys link saying I'm prepared to pay a bit to hear and see a broad range of interesting, entertaining and educational programs than wade through reality and cheap canned laughter TV shows or top 10 drivel or hate-spewing talking heads on the radio between more and more mindless ads.
I see it this way, public boadcasting has less ads, is more fulfilling and far less expensive to me than commercial media or satellite radio!
