...But it really wasnt about the fishing.
I am now a part owner of a raft. Wanted this for a long time and we finally made it happen. Had to go pick it up in Lynchburg on Sunday, long ride home at 60 mph bc of the tiny trailer tires. Did some tinkering on Monday and Tuesday and hatched a plan to float the lower New yesterday. Had to call Doug early bc i couldnt find the put-in, but he guided me correctly and we were ready to rock. Flow had been about 3800 cfs for several days and if im calculating correct, 2500-3000 is about the right flow for good fishing. Overnight they bumped up to 5100, so it was high and impossible to get flies down, even with sinking lines and split shot. We caught 3 total fish, and missed maybe 4, needless to say it was super slow. The gear guys in jet boats were also complaining about not catching fish, so we knew we had it rougher. Oh well, boat did well, beers were consumed, and im only partially red on my upper legs.

Saw the big red mama in your driveway on my way home from work today. I should have stopped, hopped in, and took a selfie.
