Trout Maharishi

The weather was great, almost summer like. TP and I kept hoping that it would trigger some nice hatches that we know from past experience are right on the verge of happening. All we saw were a few March Browns, and some Blue Quill spinners, mixed in with the odd and end caddis. Thank goodness the midge hatches that were on the sparse side last year have returned to normal. Many fish were caught the next couple of days. Even the boys managed to catch a few. The biggest problem I had was keeping them from drinking all my hippie beer :P I gave them a $20 and told them to go buy a case of Bush ;D I could have taken photo after photo, but after a while unless it was a really nice fish, unique looking, or I could think of some new way to try and get a photo, I would just use my release tool and didn't even bother to net them unless they were at least 16". It's hard work taking photos and trying to fish, drink beer, and smoke cigars all at the same time. Not to mention keeping an eye on the goats and yaks while they graze.

The Indians use to say it was time to go trout fishing when the Trout Lilies bloomed, they were right 8)

I caught many more Browns than Rainbows this trip, at least 5 to 1 Browns. Still managed a few nice Rainbows.

Most of the Brown even when not exceptional long were thick and fat.

Had to try some new techniques and variation just to keep it interesting.

More later, I just need some more time to go thru and pick out some of the better photos. I'm still tired from trying to hang with the young guns all night and fish with the hardcore likes of TP all day.

You need to take lessons on fishin', smokin', drinkin'  beer and catchin' a fish at the same time from Billres.  I think Disco may have a pic somewhere...

Come to think of it, the browns were more numerous than the bows?
Even rising to drys, they were more apt to rise.....another mistery...... ???

A complete disgrace to have taken pictures of those shy, innocent fish.

Can I go next time?
