Title: work alternatives
Post by: benben reincarnated on July 19, 2013, 11:40:16 AM

Merle Haggard - Sing Me Back Home (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PEwBdCeINg#)

I was off work today with a few chores to do, none included fishing, but I went anyway.  I hit up a blueline close to my home that I haven't fished at all this year.

Bit foggy on the drive up

Getting better

So I headed up the Forest Service road and it turned to shit.  I started losing traction on the flat sections and I still had a mile to go up some steep shit, wasn't worth the risk so I bailed for another locale

much better road

Found out the road was closed so I couldn't get to where I wanted to start fishing, ran into a mountain biker who said he was told it will be closed all year due to budget cuts

decided to bail to go hit up a brookie stream and came across a shit ton of trash on the way out

My new boots are a hybird rubber and felt sole, I added some spare sheet metal screws for added traction. They worked quite well.

I started loading up my chit to head to the brookie stream and the door closed on my rod, making my 3 weight 4 piece a 6 piece   b';

Thank goodness for warranties, 30 bucks later and it will be fixed.

So much for brookies on this trip...

I think the gods were after you for bailing on work.  >:D
I listened to the angel on my left shoulder and not the devil on the right. No fun, no fish. No bad mojo either.
But my attitude needs an adjustment.
Sorry about your 6 piece. We've all done that.

Nice Ben. I have broken more rods than I have caught fish lately.

BTW, you're not going goth on us are you? With the black nails and all...  ;D

Was it an Echo?  One of the best warranties in the fly rod industry.

Yep it is an Echo.

This makes the third time this rod has been broken.  First time this year though.  <knock on wood>

I smashed my finger taking apart a bed frame.  Actually smashed and cut it at the same time which was 2.5 half weeks ago. Hurt like a mofo for days.

At least you got out Ben.  More than I can say lately.
Looks like the FS should have closed that shitty dirt road, not the nice gravel one  ;)

I should have known something was up when I passed a parked road grader...

True, but the road was pretty squirrelly either way you look at it.

Hope you and Tranny have good luck this weekend.  Don't let him talk you into drinking any of his PBRs.

Don't feel sorry for you.  Work sucked today.  As did the Jeep I owned.   Well worth the broken rod vs the two hour meeting you missed.   You suck!

You probably know it but you are so lucky to have that so close to your house.  Good stuff.

Yeah buddy, less than 30 minutes to feet wet from my driveway.  Better water is a little further in all directions but the convenience factors highly with this stream.
