It's time for the annual ramp harvest again.  We did some fishing too, and a shit ton of hiking....10 miles round trip, 1,100 elevation gain.  Caught a whole bunch of brookies, nothing of any size but this trip was way more about the journey.

Due to a few unforeseen circumstances we didn't leave the trailhead until 10:45.

This bench mark was on a rock in the middle of the stream, so strange.

Was that last brookie that dark or just how the photo turned out?

That kind of trip would have my out of shape ass down for a week.

Good news is I can walk this morning without too much of an issue.

I cleaned the ramps this morning, now time to work on some recipes...after I fire up the smoker and also brew a beer.  Priorities.

Au naturale, no editing.  He was tucked up under a rock, brookies living in dark places tend to have darker coloration.  Sunny and minimal canopy streams usually produce lighter colored brookies.

Yes, we sat in the car and drank beer in the morning whilst said unforeseen circumstances worked themselves out.
I was born by the river in a little tent, And just like the river I've been running ever since, It's been a long, long time coming, But I know change is gonna come.

Left the house before 6AM and didn't get home until after 10PM.  The creek was the trail for a good bit of the trip.  My knees are not happy with me today.  It was a hella good trip, though.  I got to explore some areas I've never been to, and likely will never be able to get back to.  Pretty neat stuff.

Delayed post. I got home, passed out with a half a beer sitting next to me, woke up on Saturday and drove 5 hours to Myrtle Beach. I've spent the weekend drinking and drinking and hanging with the in-laws.

Hot spotting

I would think that a Sculpin beer would be nasty, but I also think the hops would cure it..

in other words, I don't think it's a great name for a beer... imho
