Question for you JT - do you fillet bluegill or just gut and scale them?

I know they are good eating but find that filleting them is a pain in the butt so I usually just toss them back.

I do occasionally fillet large gills ,but 90% of the time I scale and gut them. I do like to smoke gills with a light cajun rub on them.  Like you , I get tired of Filleting them when you can gut and scale just about as quickly. Plus you don't loose as much meat.

I find filleting to be 1000000000000x less pain in the butt than scaling and gutting for the bigger ones. Maybe 30 seconds per fish? And you get all the edible meat.

Nice bream, for sure!

I agree. An electric knife makes the process easy peasy
