They had dropped the Smiff flows to 80cfs so I went small.
This is a spring creek with ag drainage. It had been days since a rain, so it should be good to go.
Hiked in a new way. Ended up not hiking the main trail long enough before the spur to the creek. Duh.
Some serious bashwhacking ensued.
Plant life is off the hook here. Limey stream, acid woods.

I did not have all day, and after an hour on the beautiful pumping stream and not even a bite, I called it quits.
Really disappointing. I hope nothing has happened up stream. I'll be back.

Brook trout seem very reluctant this year down my way. Fished a good brookie creek a couple months ago for 3 hours and did not see or feel a damn thing. Went to the local park a couple weeks ago, and caught a couple dink brookie, and nothing above the brown trout barrier/falls.

I've already written off specks this year. I may go crappie fishing tomorrow. I love streamer fishing for Crappie.

I haven't fished at all yet this year. Getting ready to go get my first brookie skunk out of the way in the next few days.

Thanks for taking the time to identify the plants Doug. I enjoy that part of fishing almost as much as the catching. :cheers
