The Vaccines - Wreckin' Bar (Ra Ra Ra) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sOq6Rrre7c#ws)
Less is more. Today was spent mostly scouting streams for later this season. I think we looked at at least half a dozen streams to determine viable future fishing options. We actually only fished a little while in the end....riding around and looking and even some hiking gets a little old, so we had to actually fish some. A few fish were caught, some were released from afar, some up close. Damn, it was good to get out...a little fix to keep holding me over until Spring.

Good to know.
Water temp was in the upper 30s when we checked it, so moving fish I've found at any temps below 40 is a major bonus.
Catching fish at those water temps is a challenge.
I salute you. y;
I should be doing this, but no, I'll try to throw my arm off tomorrow. :laugh:
Got a special delivery South Carolina beer today.

I'd say. Those things are like big ole burritos to the trout.
No shit, I picked up one piece of driftwood and it had five of those stonefly nymphs, a couple roach like stones, some caddis nymphs and several mayfly clinger nymphs. For 40 degree water temps, they scurried off pretty quickly and didn't want to pose for a photo op, so I grabbed what I could and put them in my hand for a quick pic. Earlier in the day there was actually a pretty concentrated blue wing olive hatch complete with a rash of surface activity from some rainbows in one large calm back eddy. This particular stream could hold some decent trout populations and fish of size based on the size of the stream and the quick bug survey from yesterday. It is actually undesignated, but I think it will require much more in depth research this spring and fall, IMO.
Nicely done. The big stream holds a decent number of browns too. I fished it in the late summer of last year and did pretty good on top as I remember.
Great stuff!
Scouting trips are great.
Less pressure to make the creek produce.
Lots of time for drinking & looking around.

Dude, You get zero sympathy from me. You are 25 mins from a wild trout pisser. I am at least 2.5/3 hours. My local shitter has been sluicing for 3 months straight.
Take up something like crochet or croquette. I know how you Assvillains have a bunch of stuff you can piss time away until the favored season (is there even such thing? Trouts be eating dries n shit each month of the year, I kinda like fishing in the dead of winter, no DRO's or bros to fuck my day up, just idiotic shit driving tourons holding up traffers)
So from me to you, go back to sleep, I'll kick your door in March 1, 2016, I heard 2015 is going to be a shit year :P
