Temps are looking favorable. Who’s hitting it tomorrow? I am. Hoping to see some reportage.

Sorry dude; gonna take my old man out
Good for you, G.

After months of blown out rivers due to heavy rains... I had to tend a flat tire and take the dog to the veterinarian today. He blew a claw and the old lady didn't want to end up with a 3-legged dog. Can't knock her paranoia, he's a damn fine mutt and she loves him.
Alarm is set for 3am. Tomorrow I worship the Musky.
Taking my happy ass to bed.
Good Luck to all tomorrow!
All of you all suck. The following is my weekend. Weather is too nice for this.
Saturday AM, Scouting for food
Saturday afternoon, spread one of 3 loads of leaf compost on garden
Saturday evening, cooking ground meat, and prepping for a spaghetti/scout fundraiser
Sunday AM, prepare a meal for 200
Sunday afternoon, feed the horde, and clean up
Sunday evening, go to a friends house to eat smoked turkey and duck, and try not to watch the superbowl.
I'm gonna try to sneak out Wed.
And just like that the day has eluded my fishing intentions.
-sigh-

Well, no fish to report. Beautiful day though, warmed up nicely. Only 8,500 casts to go until I might have reached the quota to catch a Musky.
Water on the Shenandoah was great. I need to tie some different flies that sink faster. Always something to improve upon!

It was killing me every time I was outside this week knowing that I wasn't fishing. It wasn't all for naught. My wife and I finally both had a weekend off, so we spent a lot of time with just the family for some much needed downtime. I may have to sneak off some time this week though...

Not quite, but close. The 51" from a couple years ago was bigger, but this one was a tank for sure. I'd say it weighed around 35
Anybody fishing or want to fish tomorrow?
Damn nice fish.
AR and I went. We each had one musky follow, but that's it.
Good Gawd what a fish!! bd;0 bd;0

It took me nearly 3 days, but you now have 47 smites to match the length of that fish

That's a beautiful Musky! I would be framing that picture on the wall!
Nicely Done. y;
We had 2-3 follows and no eats on Sunday, glad to see one boated.
Musky - damn, those are awesome fish.
I know nothing of fishing for them for the most part.
Everyone says you'll need a boat and I've sold mine.
Most guys say that fishing for them without a boat (wading) is an act of futility.
I really wish it was feasible to fish them without the requirement of a vessel.
I've seen dudes catching them while wading for smallmouths.
I just don't know.
It sure would be nice to catch a musky on the fly.

Is this a cry for help?
Where do you live?

Mount Airy, NC. And, yes, I would say that could be interpreted as a cry for help.
WAIT!! I'm crying for help, too. Gawd, I'd like to catch a muskie.
Ferocious bows of the rain (in the snow?), manana.
Good luck. I shall be sleeping in late, and enjoying life.

I like. Can’t wait to see ferocious snow ‘bows.
Good luck.
Snow, rain, 34 degrees. A couple of related west slopers. A couple of hours of meh.
The normally aggressive rainbows were sleepy. n!n
Bigfoot!?!?

How'd the water look? Thought it would be up and muddy with all this rain.
Might make that run next weekend.

Gotta watch the gauges.
Uses these gages for the upper new.
NWS Upper New (https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/river.php?wfo=rnk&wfoid=18784&riverid=203862&pt%5B%5D=146412&pt%5B%5D=142183&pt%5B%5D=146410&pt%5B%5D=146336&allpoints=146412%2C142183%2C146410%2C146336%2C150979%2C141386%2C142331%2C141831&data%5B%5D=hydrograph&data%5B%5D=probflow)
It is generally rainfalls over an inch the mess up the new. Rain lately has been rather gentle.
Next week on the other hand may be a bit different. NWS is calling for 1.5 inches this week, while, some of the local stations are suggesting the mountains could see 5 inches of rain. I hope the hell not. Next weekend looks promising minus the rain.
Killing it, Graybeard!
Grayson getting after it. Was I correct in my conclusion that the New was not good fly fishing conditions for musky?
Probably would of been better than our trout fishing conditions. 2 bites, 1 fish landed.
Pretty water though.

Is there ever a good condition to fly fish for Musky? Walleye, Musky, Kentucky Spots are gear fish. I'm going to clean the dust off my gear here soon, and indulge in some late evening Walleye fishing & camping....I hope.

There is a I’m wasting less of my time condition when it comes to fishing for musky. Stained water musky rely on vibration which is difficult to replicate with a fly. And with stained water you have to cover more water to get a better chance of a musky looking. Gear is more optimal in every condition practically, but in stained high water, throwing flies has a futile feeling. I know a lot of gear throwers that have their best days on rising discolored waters.

Where we floating? Could probably float the James from Buchanan to Richmond in a day.
We could get a few dozen casts in, too? -0-
I'm fishing somewhere, but it will be too damned cold for my liking.
No rain, warm temps, I’m headed to the smiff tomorrow afternoon d:b
I'm teaching a MB college class :banana072:
Good luck Woolly! No fishing here, I’m in Arizona for 8 weeks.
I’ll be on a brookie stream in a couple hours.
