I've caught them in the past as early as now.  Just depends on water temps and bait.

Word from off shore of morehead is there are acres of them.  all we need is the water temps to drop, all the fresh water from the rains to wash out and the salinity to get back to normal, water to clear up and bait to run.   ;D

As long as things are peachy there come the end of October, I'm happy!  ;D

In years past we caught them in close off hatters with 'Clark Spoons'. What flies do you all use?

Harkers...where 8 wts go to die!  I was hooked with my first tuna melt; the sound of the drag screaming as you realize you might not have enough backing.

Check this video which was sent to me by a Albie junkie. Looks like something I might want to try - get your sea sick pills ready.

It's really something, watching a school of baitfish getting ripped to shreads.  Unfortunately, it requires a boat to chase those schools of bait....   :'(  It sure gets crazy out there, though, doesn't it?  Notice all those boats.... :o ;D ;D
