Hey guys I have been kicking around heading up to Quebec for some of those huge brookies... anyone have experience or details for anything like this?

I've always heard Labrador is the place to go.

You going to drive to the Gaspe Pennisula.   Quebec City is a haul from the US (unless your in Fort Kent, ME) .  Gaspe is further. I would head to Gaspe Peninsula, but if I was going there I would fish for Atlantics.

Do you speak french?

I just know that I want to go up there wherever those folks that I saw on tv were fishing with big fuzzy flies that looked like rats and were catching big brook trout that could swaller a housecat whole, and were in spawning colors.

I think that was Labrador.

from what I have heard its a pretty spendy trip.  5-6K per week

I'd give my left nut to go to Labrador for those brook trout.

The Dude

I think you are required by law to hire a local guide to fish anywhere in Labrador.

Yeah I'm in Youngstown, NY ... I've made it to Montreal in 6 hours by car and it's a beautiful drive.  So I was planing on driving that portion to save some airfare and then flying to the destination/lodge out of Montreal.  I do speak French, enough, and also thinking a week with native speakers would strengthen that skill along with catching fish :)  d:b

Can't be many folks left up there.
