Title: Catawba River
Post by: Mstash on September 13, 2005, 04:12:54 AM

Floated Sat. It was the weirdest trip. We caught 2-LMB 1-SM 1-Sun fish in the upper section before the generation started. With jake James turning over the river turned too dirty to catch anything. But the guy with me did manage one Brown and it made his day. So I guess the trip was worth it. It was a great day on the water.

Beware
On the upper section about 150 yards below the putin at Bridgwater there is a tree down. With no generation we had to carry the 2-man Toon around the Tree. It might have been tough to get the wing span of the oars through on full generation. Of course the message at the Power House will not mention the Tree for what ever reason.  :o

No
I'm not a Guide
I just offered a trip in the  Rotary Auction here in Town for all the good work they do.

Last year the trip went for $20.00
This year $180.00

I don't get a thing other than sore arms from rowing. And some piece of mind.

Rick

Did that "new" tree come off  of riverbank  right or left?

Is it where we cut the trees out of the channel in January.......... above or below?

Are there any rock ledges or rapids there?

Can the drift boat squeeze through on high water or do we need to have a chainsaw party again?

From Rt to left
With no water generating the river bed is out of water.
Jimmy T made it through in a Canoe in generation. But I would feel better if it was gone all together than to try and pass in a Drift Boat or Raft.
I woun't do it in my 2-Man Toon.

It's above where we cut last.

If you go to the ramp and look down river it is just out of sight around the first turn to the left

Lets do it. Two saws should be enough
