OK guys.....I live as close to salt as I do to mtns, but aleways go for trout.
Looking to give salt a try. Need an economical recommendation. I recently purchased a Temple Fork 3wt for less than 100, and am very pleased with the rod. Is there a way to get into a decent salt water rig for less than an arm and leg?
Also what is a good reel to pair with the 3 wt, also economy is the key here.
Oh yeah, for the salt, I'm talking something that will work for flats etc...kayakable water and the such.
thanks,
befuddlled
There is a TiCr 9ft 8wt four piece for sale for 150 dollars on FAOL right now. Don't know much about those rods but sounds like a good price.

I'm sure that he means http://www.flyanglersonline.com/
Fly Anglers On Line = FAOL
btw they have a monthly drawing for a great set of Fly Tying Tools....!
Check it out!
The TFO TiCR 9' for 8 weight would be an economical choice. It casts like a cannnon and you'll hopefully be getting big enough fish in the salt to feel 'em during the fight.
An Okuma, Orvis Clearwater, Pflueger, or any reel in the $30 to $40 range will work fine for your 3 weight. All it is used for is storing the line.
I can't offer any help on the saltwater reel. Post your question on the Saltwater board here, and if you don't get any hits, try the Saltwater board at SFF.
