This is a May backpacking/fishing tradition. 3" of rain the first day was not a part of the tradition. Temps in the mid 50s during the day and mid 30s at night made it feel more like fall.
After swinging by Snag's house to drop off a letter in the mail and to drop off the Cosby kids at the pool, I hit the trail. The rest of the crew would join up later.

Water temps that dropped from mid 60s to low 50s in a 24-hr period put the hatches to a screeching halt. A few flies came off, but not much.

Excellent report and pics , as usual. 'c;
Well fuck, I'll be in my hallowed T-County next week. Good to see that it cleared up so quickly. Nice thing about mountain creeks. Give em 24 hours and they will return to manageable levels. Well played mate. Best to ya next weekend!
I'm taking off work next year.
Seriously I am
I miss that river, you guys, and the inevitable pleasant misery of that yearly trip.

Has there ever not been some sort of douchebaggery going on in there? It amazes me that people like that are willing to hike so far to fish.

That stream is "wild" trout regulations.
- Season is open year-round
- Only artificial lures having one single hook may be used
- You can only keep four (4) fish
- The four fish must be at least seven (7) inches long
- It is unlawful to possess natural bait on your person while fishing
Pretty much 99.9% of what we fish has this designation.
I'm guessing they probably either had treble hooks and/or natural bait. But I could be wrong.

I was trying hard to add a brook trout to the creel and grill it up, but no dice.
There are a lot of hardcore poachers out there. Should of followed them around and thrown rocks in the pools they fish, but then again, sounds like they were not good poachers. Good pics Dude.
That was an awesome trip report.

Always good to leave a challenge or two for the next time.
While I don't always eat brook trout, when I do I prefer them roasted on a stick, a la campfire hotdog.
I have to admit that looked friggin awesome.

Did all the tents survive that raging bonfire?
The tents were set a good distance back from the fire ring. But considering we were armed with nothing more than a machete and brute strength, you would have been amazed at how much wood was consumed by that fire over the course of 4 days and 3 nights we were there. Seriously....you would be shocked. I was there and I am still amazed by how much we put through the ringer. To be honest, I am mostly amazed that we were able to even get a fire started on the first day. We grilled up some NY Strip steaks and they were money. I wish I would have taken a photo of that. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
