That describes me pretty much to a "T" on every tailwater fishery.

River looks like its fishing goooood-----may head down me too. there Thurs afternoon 

Hmmmm. From the recent reports, it looks to me like its fishing good for really expert technical tailwater fishermen. That counts my ass out.

Water color good, avg fish size seems larger, flows are steady——they are still snooty tailwater fish.

Gas $2.69  65 and sunny.

I went to a couple of places that I hadn't visited in a while.

I caught punes, might have had a thumper on the line for a couple of seconds.

Moved around a bit and found a pod of suckers, one of which fought harder than the trout.

Hovered up a bunch that looked like this... nothing too exciting

I had a snack at the end of the day.



Dougfish's post reminded me of how many euro rigs I lost today (3) and how much time was spent untangling dropper fly tangles.

I took another skunk on Friday. I had a compressed day and was fishing hard and fast.
Nothing from a "sure thing" run. A real head banger. 
Fished up through a flat section to picky sippers. 
Reached the section where I was going to bag a fish or quit.
Saw 2 nice fishing rising in swifter water. Stuck with the girdle bug.
Hooked the near fish. Nice one. Threw the hook.
Went for the one on the far side. Opps. Lots of wood over there. Lost fly.
Never got a hook up. Moved up and did not get a fish out of numerous good lays.
Finally got another strong take...........and spit the bit. 
Reeled up and hit the hike out to the truck. Only an hour left. Upstream.
There was another vehicle there, but I never saw anyone after walking in.
Promptly lost another freshly tied bug. Then I had a strong fish break me off.
Lost a third bug. Reeled up and headed home. Kidz were flying in from CO soon.

Went back today for the last(?) trip of 2021.
Started low. Looking for a fresh venue. Euroing.
Lost a few flies straight away.But caught a couple of meh fish.
Got to my turn around to start up through the target water and caught 3 nice, heavy, acrobatic fish.
Lost 2 more rigs. 









I waded in because I was trying to meet up with Scott (consumnfire) on the upper river.
We had not fished together this year.
In the parking lot, a car approached. The driver said, "I know you". Rut roh?!
It was trout-r-us. It was good to meet Bob and his lovely wife and we chatted for a while before I headed upstream.

I hiked in after Scott and I found him happily catching a few chunky risers. His 7 mo old chocolate lab was with him for her first fishing trip.



She alternated between well behaved and full blown maniac puppy. No fish were put down, though.
I watched Scott catch a few while I rigged up a dry fly rod.



I waded in behind him and crossed over. Lots of sipping fish. But no sales were completed. Scott had turned to refusals, also. I switched a few times and finally got a hook up. And an SDR. 20 minutes later, no more fish between us, I had to hit the road the road for home.

Thank You, but I did not participate in the angling adventures. I was merely driving around the neighborhood with my wife and happened to bump into Doug at a parking area.
By the way, it was nice to meet you Doug.

#139 66 and cloudy

Last trip of the year...       



When I got down to the Hodgman hole the trout were sipping steadily, that was a good sign.
They were rising in the tailout of the big diagonal run and I played the BWO game for about an hour before it shut completely down. A handful came to the net. Every time I was ready to move on another fish would rise, but it was so sporadic that it was just a frustrating delay. 




Damn beavers blocked my shortcut.

I moved on down to look at some other runs and tossed the euro rig into the head of the pool. I found a fish, it hangs out under a submerged limb. It missed the fly as it swept by. Difficult cast for sure. Since there were no risers here I moved on down to the bottom run and euroed up a handful of fish.
