Title: Midge DMC
Post by: troutphisher on September 22, 2009, 19:24:36 PM
Hook: Dai-Riki #135 size 22

Thread: Black Uni-Thread 8/0

Body: DMC embroidery thread, one strand black, DMC white embroidery floss one strand. Both strands pulled from the rope and separated.

Thorax: One strand of Black DMC embroidery thread

Wing case: Fluoro Fibre white

Legs: Fluoro Fibre white.

The DMC embroidery thread is a good substitution for the super hair, and comes in a variety of colors that match almost all the midges you can find.

What are you doing to the embrodery thread to get that frayed look?

When its untwisted to get down to the single rope, it frays a little, that and you can untwist the single rope a little to get the fibers to fray out.
