Beetle called the other night and asked if I wanted to go fishing on Wednesday, of course I said sure!

I thought it was going to be an awesome blue winged olive day with the mountains top s blanketed with snow and the temperature in the mid 30s and an overcast sky, conditions looked perfect for a massive hatch. Shortly after we arrived conditions got even better as a little drizzle started up, now it was just a matter of time. A few fish were caught but overall it was pretty slow. There weren't a lot of people fishing but the ones that were seemed to know our favorite spots.

We moved around a bit and did manage to find a sparse BWO hatch, but it wasn't strong enough to elicit a steady rise from the fish. Then the sun popped out around 3:30 and warmed us up a bit, by the end of the day is was a balmy 45.
Caught a few more fish some of which put on a show with blistering runs and aerobatic escape attempts. Overall not a bad day, sure beats one at work.

Pastor explains icons to my son: you know like the fish symbol on the back of cars.
My son: My dad has two fish on his car and they're both trout!

Give 'er a rest mate! Try a Latrine a bit north of there sometime. You might end up feeling like a pig in shit! -0-

You need to reevaluate your definition of a crappy day.

Nice work Woolly.

You better watch out, Buddy.  If you keep this 'career-oriented' stuff up, you are in real danger of losing your "real trout bum" status.
I was born by the river in a little tent, And just like the river I've been running ever since, It's been a long, long time coming, But I know change is gonna come.
