Peter and I had a couple of free hours this afternoon so we decided to hit the French Broad near my house (5 minutes away to be exact).  Water was low and clear, perfect for wading.  I caught a few bluegills, badly pictured below, and Peter hooked into a mystery fish of which I did not photograph.  Trip overall was a bust.  We still have yet to figure out the smallies, at least I figured out the bluegills for the time being.

Highlight of the trip was seeing a bald eagle a few times soaring and diving over the river.  Crazy to think one lives a few miles from my house.

Yes that's a tractor tire....

Lotsa geese flying around too

The tiny spec at the top of the photo is the bald eagle...unfortunately I didn't have my camera with better zoom with me

Pastor explains icons to my son: you know like the fish symbol on the back of cars.
My son: My dad has two fish on his car and they're both trout!
