I fished the Smith again Saturday.  It was extremely slow up until 2:30 or 3, then somebody flipped a switch and it was wild until dark.  It may have something to do with the fact that I quit messing around and went back to my normal spots.   I decided to only fish beetles and I stuck with my plan.  I caught a bunch of fish, mostly browns with 4 or 5 rainbows mixed in, including about a 6 incher with parr marks.  There is just a little rainbow reproduction on the Smith and it was neat to find a wild one. I talked to Bugman and he tore the fish up fishing sulphers.

Nice Ben, man, you blokes are tearing that creek up. I may have to renew my VA license and fish it sometime...

very nice...makes me wish I went fishing saturday instead of chasing and cussing out a little white ball all day. Are you working the banks with beetles or are they taking them all over the river already?

gamatt, if I see one moving by the banks it is almost garanteed he will hit.  It is not garanteed I will catch him though! >:D  They are hitting them in midstream late in the day when the sun is dropping.  When the sun is up I am fishing the shade unless I see something moving.

Good work Ben - seems like it is beetle time again.  Think I may run up on Sunday. Cabin lawn needs mowing and I need to get away from all these contractors who are sawing, hammering  and painting all around my house.

I'll call you this week, Al.
