benben reincarnated

Was originally intending on hitting some new streams, but my girlfriend works in Brevard, had to work today, and with gas the way it is figured it would be a good time to carpool it.  I dropped her off at 9:00 and headed up the mountain to a regular creek of mine with some of my freshly tied cdc-winged flies, frogs fanny, and samadou patch in hand.  Figured I'd skip the regular sections and go up further and fish some new-to-me water.

Had the first fish on by 9:30 and were getting strikes on every cast on the dry, cut the dropper loose after 10 minutes and fished the same dry all day.  The frogs fanny is worth its weight in gold and am glad I got the recommendation to grab some, definitely saved my ass some headaches.

One of the more productive pools...

Caught this gem on the first cast into the pool shown above....sadly it was the only brookie I landed all day, but it was worth the trip.  First brookie I've caught on this stream, so definitely what I would consider a new fish.

Next cast netted this...

Then this to finish it out...

Moved upstream some more...

Still caught some decent fish further up...

Called it quits here...plan to pick up here next time I hit this stream.

Nice little brookies and rainbows, Ben. You're now holding 'em correctly.   'c;
