Hello! I'm new to the forum. I have been trout fishing for a few years in western NC. I normally like to fish the wild streams where I use a lightweight 6 ft fly rod. A friend told me about the Tenkara USA website and I am interested in the concept. Has anyone here had experience with these? I am not totally convinced that an 11 or 12 ft rod on some of the laurel covered streams that I fish is going to work! I would be interested to hear your comments before I invest $140 plus for a Tenkara setup.
Thanks,
Doug S

Doug- IMO- The concept of a fixed line system is too limiting, even for smaller waters- I would say if you have interest- buy a 10'-11' bamboo cane pole at a bait store and attach a leader as long as the rod to expriment before you lay down the $140.

I have read the method to deal with large fish that run is to thrown the rod in the water and let the fish tire by dragging it while you run to retrieve it down stream. Good stuff.
