I'm not sure what is more disturbing, That whole video or the fact that I kinda liked it!
We used to go when I was in Army at Bragg, we planned it around the big high school weekendsmemorial day and pretty much any weekend in may and june. It was as bad as you might remember. We would go down and just find places to crash in random hotel room with random outstanding citizens, female of course! Always an all-you-can-eat buffet and sneaking good out to the other guys who didn't have the 7 bux! We could do a weekend with 4 guys in one car, 10-12 cases of beer( shaefer for $8 a case at the PX before we left ) for about $40-50 bux a piece!I would NEVER let my kids do that, but I'm sure my dad said the same thing, but it is probably not so easy to stop a 18-19 y/o paratrooper from doing whatever he wants!
Reminded me of High School Spring breaks and a few years after :) Same story as above.......... I think you just have to be 18/19 and at Myrtle Beach for that story.
My dad said everyone used to hitchhike to MB in the 50's. I doubt that his generation subscribed to "gonna smoke a big joint when I git there..." but I'm sure they had their own fun.
That video is so ridiculous.....and yet I've been humming the song all day.....
I used to go down there all the time during high school and stay at assorted friends parent's houses. You could drive on the beach at night back then. No condos and very few motels back in those days. A friend of mine's family used to own Willbrook plantation between Brookgreen Gardens and Litchfield Plantation. I shot my first deer there. At night we would ride all the way to North Myrtle Beach to eat Japanese food at the only Japanese resterant on the whole Grand Strand. Willbrook is a stinking golf course and retirement community now. I went back years later and there were a bunch of Japanese playing golf right where the dam deer fell. Ah, to be young again.
