I'm heading to St. John in the virgin islands with my family next week.  I'm taking an 8wt. outfit, and am hoping to get into some bonefish, tarpon, barracuda, permit, etc. (whatever will bite).  Has anyone ever fished this area?

I'm not exactly an experienced saltwater fisherman.  Any suggestions on go to patterns for bonefish/tarpon?  There is one flat that I know of on the island that I have heard holds a good population of bonefish (and sharks).  I guess I will just try sight fishing there or fishing the coral around the island.

Any advice for this island would be great.  Also, some basic "must know" advice for saltwater fishing would be great too.

I was there in May and didn't get a hit
We stayed looking down on coral bay[attachimg=1]
I fished Lamshur Bay twice in the morning and saw fish breaking bait but couldn't get to them

What I thought was weird about the 4 day's I was there I saw nothing related to fishing what so ever,From the Ferry ride back and forth to ST John and where I rode around ST John, I never went into the Town other than coming and leaving the Island

I hear leinster bay has fishing but I never made it over there
Wedding plans were the order of the 4 day's
Get ready to do some driving Up and down no matter where you go.
I saw Bones in Trunk Bay but there were to many people to be casting a Fly
Are you going over on the short or long Ferry
Hope this helps
We had a great time there
