The fish arrived in a shiny insulated stocking truck from the NCWRC Bobby N. Setzer Fish Hatchery located near Bervard NC.

We received a good mix of rainbows, browns and brook trout. Most were in the 9-11 inch range and will be the star attraction for several fly fishing clinics held at the Pechmann Center during the cool winter months.

The fish were placed in two ponds which were originally used as hatchery ponds when the NCWRC operated as the Lake Rim Hatchery. These one acre ponds which are approximately 5 feet deep at the deepest end are free of vegetation on three sides and serve as outdoor classrooms during the fishing phase of the fly fishing clinics.

Once the photos were out of the way the Brevard based NCWRC fisheries technician showed us how to stock a lot of fish in a hurry.
