Nice find Woolly.

If you listened to Pelosi's speech yesterday it was all Bushes economics that caused this crash of the housing market and bad loans.

Now these same people are asking the tax payers to bail them out.
They are hyping the failure of wall street and connecting the lines to main street.

I am not falling for this hype, sure wall street will take hit, and they should. It's there problem not mine.
I can only maneuver my investments through these times to reduce risk, but wall street will come back regardless. Credit it still available with tighter restrictions, the way it should be.

We have seen the results of loose terms on credit. Even if it takes ten to fifteen years to get back, I am willing to risk it. I have a long time to go before I retire or can collect retirement benefits with the tax breaks.

Right now I am doing fine, so this crisis has little effect on me, other than high gas prices, but this too will adjust.

This really effects, those at retirement age, and those just starting off. I am in the middle with time on my side. I think the credit crunch will only strengthen the market and weed out high risk loans and investments. It's the flushing of the system I think we need.

The best we can learn from this is to study your government representatives, and not make the same mistakes by electing these types people.

This was another attempt at socialism that failed miserably, and the people that bore the brunt are the most vulnerable in our society. The Democratic party fucked the very people they were elected by to help, and worse they profited from it.

But,
I have no mercy for people who willing fuck themselves, Obama is still the leading candidate.

TP - You just don't get it do you?  The potential is for a melt down will affect everyone, not just "those living hand to mouth, and over extended on credit."

My idea is, to hell with any more bailouts and let the meltdown happen...
The Rich will get by as will the Poor...  The Middle Class will keep on keepin' on.

There is no more "Middle Class?"

How can you guys blame the Democrats?  The Dem's voted YES to this bill twice as much as the Republicans (140-60)?  Can you explain this?  And these are the ones that had enough balls to even show up and vote.  With the whole elections at stake, they were afraid to show up?  Do you think Pelosi can give such a great speech to change the minds of some of the hard core Republicans?  I doubt it!  Do you guys know that there are other news channels besides FOX?  Is this the third business Bush has fucked up?  Yeah, I'm pretty sure.  Nevermind, let's blame the democrats because they have control of the house now for the past 2 years?  No wait, let's blame Clinton and Carter?  Anyway, anybody going fishing this weekend?

No one is blaming Democrats for the failed bailout bill.   In fact, we are thanking them since 95 Democrats (40%) voted against it.

What if Paulson marketed his plan a differnet way and called it an economic stimulus package or The US home ownership bill instead of a bailout?  Nobody seemed to complain about the last stimulus package.  That cost the tax payers $150 billion or so which needs to be repaid at some point.  Was this ok because it was viewed as a tax refund?  Didn't we have to sell treasuries to offshore investors to finance this refund?

One of the main purposes of giving everyone $ then was to put cash in the system to hopefully spur the economy.  This bill would also put cash in the system by freeing up the credit markets and allowing borrowing again.  Like it or not, the US economy is dependant on the credit markets for a majority of our commerce.  No credit = an incredible slowdown.  This holds true from the family farmer to the largest corporation.

I am not saying there was no fault with the original plan (no oversight, no accountability, a $ amount randomly pulled out of the air) but, a little forsight in how to present it to the Nation may have been a good thing.

I read a great quote today:  "Government control of capital is government control of capitalism."  This bailout is dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb.........

They feel like they gotta do something so that it looks as if they are doing something when the fact is they shoulda already done something a long time ago.

Pete,

Paulson won't guarantee this will even work.
Regardless, what is so wrong with letting the free market work this out?
Not all businesses will go down the tubes, only the weak buinesses  who practiced predatory lending and those who knowingly wrote worthless notes to people who could not afford them.

Barney Frank resided over the finance comity, and whats his accountability in this?

The only way I would support this, is with strong accountability. Those folks involved must lose their positions, be removed from holding office. The leaders of the failed businesses must forfeit their bonuses, and give up all their holdings including property and investments.

With out accountability, this is a bail out. There is no other way to spin it.

Obama has to answer some questions about his role in this also. He got a sweet heart loan from Fanny Mae and some large contributions to his campaign, while the company was failing, and he knew it.

Otherwise, I am with most Americans, let the chips fall, and I'll live with the pain. The reason most Americans won't support this bill, is because it smells of bail out, for the CEO's and politicians who let this happen.

While several of posters are saying the Dems. are to blame or the Repubs. are to blame. I say both parties are lying, crooked bastages. People can post all they wanna post about either party. Bottom line is......the gov. don't give a fuck about us. All they are interested in is padding their own pockets. All I hear is how bad everything is and is gonna get. Well.......what about the billions we ship overseas and outta country.....or the billions we promise to other countries? I say fuck em all and start worrying about things at home!!!   o-o o-o o-o

As far as the election goes.....it's like I told my Dad....it's like walkin through a dog lot and deciding which pile of shit is the best one to step in. Ain't nothing gonna change until one party or the other gets their heads outta their asses and realizes that the vast majority of the American people are struggling and damn sure don't trust the government at all.

All I know is.......I have the best job I've ever had in my life, but I'm still struggling to make ends meet. Between the gas prices and the grocery prices, it takes all I make. All of this shit sure as hell wasn't caused by me, you or anything that any of us have done. So the only ones left to blame it on are the greedy bastards that run this country.....or control it.

It doesn't take a lot of research to find out which party caused this mess.
It's funny none of the Democrats will take responsibility, and even try to spin the blame on the republicans.

Ironically the only Democrat to take responsibility is Clinton.

This is clearly the fault and cause of the democratic party, they are the solely responsible.
They controlled the votes, and stopped regulations.

And now the democrats put forth a candidate, that was closely tied to Both Fanny Mae and Freddy.
It strikes me as odd, that a four year senator from Illinois, would get more money then some seasoned veterans, like John Kerry. Why would a junior senator get more money???
