I am getting this out a little early because I am out of the net for a couple weeks. Just want you to put this one on your calendar now. Please reserve Sept 4th for a "Meet & Greet" of our newly assigned DGIF Conservation Police Officers (Previously called Game Wardens)  Please note that we changed the meeting time to 6pm  - don't put it on auto pilot and show up late.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Smith River Trout Unlimited will meet at Rania's Restaurant in uptown Martinsville, on Thursday, September 4, 2008, at 6pm. The program for the evening includes the opportunity for networking, swapping of tall tales and a "Meet & Greet" with DGIF Conservation Police Officers many of whom were recently assigned to provide law enforcement to the Smith River region. SGT Karl Martin, the District Supervisor will review law enforcement initiatives on the Smith River and will also be available for a question and answer period concerning fishing and hunting law enforcement issues.

You do not have to be a member of TU to attend our meetings.(You must be a member in order to vote on chapter business)   Anyone who has an interest in the Smith River Fishery is encouraged to attend.

Rania's provides us with a meeting space with the expectation that the majority of attendees will purchase a meal. (Good food, moderate prices). This link should show you Rania's location. Address is 147 E. Main St., Martinsville, VA  24112. It is in old or historic district of Martinsville known as uptown as it sits on a hill.

Bump to top of page -

Hope to see a lot of you folks Thursday evening. I expect we will have a few of the commuity leaders there because of the water transfer issue - It would be nice if we had a good crowd of "outsiders" so that they can see that we place a value on the river.
