I have the following for sale:

however, I believe there would be no problem getting a company like Winston to honor the lifetime warranty on this rod...they stand by their products.

Jon,
Just wanted to give you a little reality check.... Honoring a lifetime warranty that is intended only for the original rod owner has nothing to do with the quality of the company. It is just sound business practice. If you, or someone else, has already submitted the warranty card they will not honor the lifetime terms. They will certainly make repairs, but the costs will not be slight. I have seen too many instances of this assurance go sour...and I dont suppose you to do this intentionally. Winston is a great rod company, but it would be ludicrous to think their waranty would be infinitely transferrable.

Thank you launchone for your input.  However I'm not sure I agree with all you say.  I have heard many stories (know of one personally with Sage) of companies that have honored a "lifetime replacement" warranty to someone that was not the original owner. I have heard other sories of this with Sage and Tibor as well. It would not suprise me if other companies do the same.
I personally think it speaks volumes about a company and their product that would do this.  Not saying they do it everytime or even that a company isn't good if it doesn't.
In this case just saying I believe maybe they would, but I don't know.......

Either way, Winston is a great company and this is a great rod.

thanks,
jon

I have never heard, first hand or second hand, of Winston ever honoring a name other than the name on the original warranty card. Not saying it won't happen, but I've never heard of it.

I removed the language about Winston warranty from the post....seems to be a little controversial for here.

Smart move Jon, as the core members here don't like controversy.  ;D

I don't really care what language you use and wasn't trying to stir up anything either. I didn't mean to ruffle any feather  :j

No worries.. Nothing stirred up and no feathers ruffled. Just figured I'd get rid of the language as it was stealing all the attention away from the rod I was trying to sell.
