In wintertime, many western flycasters' thoughts turn to whitefish.  Here are a couple of shots from our efforts on a cold day in December 2006.  My brother with the whitefish and me with the brownie.  This was fly-fishing at its simplest.  I was visiting from Virginia and had none of my fly gear with me.  I found an old 5-weight with a cracking fly line in a closet, hit the local fly shop and bought a handful of beadheads, some split shot, some strike indicators, and a new leader, and hit the river.

Nice!
I like the Weber, but I haven't had as much luck on it as on the Provo.  I've only caught whitefish on two bodies of Utah water, though.  One stream high in the Uintas.
