What is your preference to attach your leader to the flyline? What has worked the best for you?
Nailless Nail Knot
there is a video out there somewhere too....
I nail knot a short section of heavy (20# or 25#) mono to my flyline, and tie a perfection loop in it. I then use loop to loop for the leader. Of course, I also use furled leaders that come with a loop in the butt end....
I am lazy. Loop to loop for me.
I go with the nailless nail knott. I use the tool on the stream and make 6 loops of the leader across the tool gap.
If you snap it off the tool quickly, it forms a pretty clean wrap and smooth connection.
I use a 9ft tapered 6x leader and this works good for me.
Here's the video: http://flyfisherman.com/skills/jb4knots/
# 4 at the bottom.... :)
Depending on the size of fly line I nail knot a piece of Maxima Chameleon .020" (25 lbs) or .017" (20 lb) to the end of the fly line. Tie a perfection loop to the other end of the Maxima about 4-6" from the tip of the fly line. Then loop tp loop connect the leader to the Maxima.
