Yesterday was a pretty gray day here with pretty hard rain showers. I decided to go fish for smallies and bluegill if the river was still fishable. It has not been several times this summer after showesr.

Started out for some big river bluegill. Two nymphs and a foam indicator. ( I'm not telling the size or color) nor ( mfg er) :)

Got several big gills. One pushing 10"  ;D

Got three smallies on the same rig. One was really really nice  ;D

12:00 and I rolled home. Nymphing for bluegill is fun. Nymphing for smallies is fun. Catching fish on a technique that works else where is great  ;D

Wooly it hadn't got down to use seemed like by morning. Probably red by now.

Pastor explains icons to my son: you know like the fish symbol on the back of cars.
My son: My dad has two fish on his car and they're both trout!

The stretch close to Marshall. The muddy water hadn't got down that far by lunch. I'm sure it's a mess today. The French Broad is a trip ruiner. I carry a flyrod and the school is in Marshall. Good water fish  :)
