First Double

After multiple spring hunting trips together, my son and I finally doubled on the gobblers.  At my age I was sure it would never come to fruition.  Sometimes the stars align.

Nature is often surprising.  After this winter's lengthy snow/ice compact and finding several lifeless deer, I was sure the turkeys also suffered.  But we have seen and heard more turkey action this spring than anticipated.

Many thanks!  It has been many moons since someone has paid me a genuine, heartfelt compliment.  The Mrs now declines to point out my many eccentricities.  Either my oddities are longer repugnant or the Mrs no longer gives a shit.  Again, I thank you.

Full disclosure:  I am perhaps the worst shot in the Appalachian Mountains – rifle, shotgun, or pistol.  I was damned good in my youth with a bow, but those days have long passed.

For turkeys I use a single shot 12 ga with red dot and the high dollar tungsten load #9s.  It will reach out there and I've had good success even with my appalling marksmanship.

I'm glad you took that with praise, as I find the term to be very complimentary as well.

I really want to start duck hunting with tungsten, but with my bad aim each duck to hand will cost $30 or more. I hear you can get it down to $3 per round if you roll you own.
