If you haven't checked out Dan Carlin's latest Common Sense episode, Who's the Boss?, it's well worth the 40 minutes. He digs into the uproar over lawmakers reminding military members of their constitutional oaths, and frames it as a bigger question: who ultimately holds the reins in a democracy when tensions rise between civilian authority and military obedience?

Carlin calls the conscience of individual soldiers a "firewall" protecting all of us from unlawful power. Given the current debates swirling around investigations, rhetoric, and constitutional safeguards, this episode feels especially timely.

Take a listen — then let's talk about whether that firewall is holding, or if it's being chipped away.
