The dogwoods and azaleas are blooming so, I took a trip to the east to check in with Driver as he's been reporting good returns on the White Bass run.

It took way too long to get my act together and get on the road. As reported earlier, I've been rowing again and wanted to get my 30 minutes in before I left. I didn't have a heart rate monitor and felt that it would be beneficial to have one to connect with the watterrower's smartrow app. So I bought an Apple Watch before the tariffs hit.

Being a old fart, my max heart rate (subtract your age from 220) is lower than it used to be and I want to target a moderate intensity, which I was able to do keeping it within 3 beats per minutes for 30 minutes @ 119 bpm (top of my green zone) --- keep on keepin on. Then I had some errands to run, get my rod ready, search for some flies by the time I got all that done and are lunch, it was almost 3 o'clock before I pulled out of the driveway and headed east on I-40. It's not a long drive of an hour and thirty minutes, but the traffic sucks once you get into Greensboro. It's a much more stressful drive than the drive to the Smith.

New book to listen to on the drive

I sent a text to Driver "I'll be on at the river around 4:30"

He replied, "I'll see if I can get away"

I had just pulled in to the parking lot when driver arrived, we geared up and headed across the field to the river. He said he had fished it in the morning and had caught about 20. He sent me down to his spot and as I was walking down there I stopped take a photo.

He was hooked up in just a few minutes.

I took me more that a few, but I finally caught a whitey after catching 3 perch.

We moved around a bit and caught a few more here and there, but it wasn't on like it was in the morning, or so he says.

Weather was approaching, so we exited the river, until next time.

Fun fish, wish that weather had held off for another hour or two.

Probably too far a drive to make on a regular basis, but who knows, I've got a long way to go to get to the end of "The Road Home"

Because I have common sense, ok
and unfortunately, a lot of people don't.

First - beautiful spot - glad you had a good time.  Be hard not to with flowering trees hanging over the river, etc.

Second, that is a great rendition of Can't Find My Way Home by Clap/wood.  Always one of my favorites.  And does anybody know who the blond kid with a pony tail who was playing with a bottle neck?  Looks so familiar, but I just couldn't quite place him.

Thanks.

When fishing, a person ought to carry a flask of whisky in case of snakebite. Furthermore, he ought to also carry along a small snake.
