#24 - 95  Foggy in the early part of the morning breaking into blue skies

USGS @ Galax 1020  Water temp in the 50s

Riverbum called with an empty seat on a New River float. We met up at the Circle K, with plans to meet Greyson up at the Austinville boat ramp.

Driving to the put-in we began to see the devastation caused by Helene flooding. Mobile homes wrapped around trees, sheet metal 30 feet up in trees, sand and silt deposited in the river filling up channels and once deep holes, boat trailer axels littering the banks, but we were focused on the water.

Here is what it looked like before the flooding.

The bum moved three musky, but they ghosted him at the boat.

A couple of large smallmouth were also spotted and I had a nice bump, but no fish were hooked or landed in either boat.

Once the sun came out burning off the moring fog, it got even slower, althoug the bum spotted a large walleye chasing his fly.

At the ramp we conversed with the wildlife officer and then departed for home.

Because I have common sense, ok
and unfortunately, a lot of people don't.
