I'm booked with Sarah this November 11 - 15 and have a few open days if any of y'all would like to join me. d:b

We had a pretty good trip last year and are hoping for more albie excitement this year.

After blowing up many 8wts in past trips I've invested in a new Albie Outfit; a Sage R8 Salt 9 wt, with a Ross Salt 9/10 reel with a Rio Bitz line. I cast the rod today in the yard and was pretty happy, will try it on the pond tomorrow, I've got a 7 day return option on it so I'll give it a workout.

PM for trip details.

Because I have common sense, ok
and unfortunately, a lot of people don't.

Yo, bossman.  In the past when you've gone for the CALO shitshow, were the shrimpers still out dragging?

the shrimpers are still there. The albies have not been following behind them is many years.

Let's just say the question isn't about albies lol

Good Luck.  Hope the weather gods will be smiling.

My last salt trip was in 2001 and I have no plans for a return. My motion sickness challenges have worsened over the years.  The last trip, I went to the Chesapeake to fish with my uncle John for croakers at night.  No good food for supper.  Spicy popeyes chicken was served and unfortunately, my gut doesn't like greasy food.  Whilst attempting to fish, I was blowing spicey chicken chunks, some of which came out the nose. After the miserable 5 hours of chunky and dry vomiting, I was a bit peckish but there was no place open to eat so I ended up consuming more spicey popeye chicken leftovers. Didn't feel right for days.

You don't want me as a companion.

Big Chopper Blues in the mix for variety from what I hear.

#24 — 95 sunny and eighty degrees, water temps 70

I was fishing with Twin-bridges (Larry) and Rhody (Jamie) with Capt. Rob. We headed out at first light.

The bite was on in the morning and we landed 4 Albies befor 7 o'clock. The fish moved on and we headed over to the east side where the action picked up again.

Driver and Patrick were out also and they had great success too as did most other boats that day.

It was an epic Albie day, we totaled 18 in our boat and Driver and Patrick had robust numbers too.

#24 — 96

Jason and I headed out at daybreak in the seapro with some almost sporty conditions. We ran into pod after pod of Albies but they didn't stay up and despite having a few good shots we didn't hookup after chasing them around for  while everybody started to look for a new game to play.

Choppers! Lots of them, but they were mostly staying deep.

We hooked a few on gear and a few got away — Jason lost a handful of lures. It got crowded over there too so we split and looked for Albies inside the hook and we had a few almost good shots before I finally got one in.

Then when that died down we went after the blues again where I landed one on the fly.

With two fish in the cooler we headed for the barn.

#24 — 97 cloudy and warm with winds out of the south.

It was a bit on the sporty side as we ventured out from the protection of the hook.

Searching for Albies proved futile and we ended up going after bluefish up close to shore which was a bit hairy as the swells from the southerly winds were pushing us into shore.

All the ones that I hooked were around 16 pounds. Around noon Sarah asked if I wanted to call it at 1/2 day, I asked if we could catch one more and she replied in the affirmative. I told her I needed a photo of one fish.

Tomorrow promises to be snotty but hopefully the Albies will like the foul conditions.

Those big blues sure do make for a nice backup plan. Nice to see them again.

Pretty tasty too. We ate couple of for dinner Sunday night. I missed out on the left overs that were made into fish cakes for breakfast.
