It took me awhile to getting around to posting this, but taking a week off work always fucks me, especially being probably the busiest I've ever been. I had thought of a song to post in this report, then I forgot. I had thought of a few clever things to say.. I forgot... Anyway, here is the report.

This was a family trip to a dude ranch that had us staying on a very productive, very remote, mid sized creek. So, most of the pictures are going to be of scenery and fishing was a side quest and with the injury my wading was limited.

The drive from Boise to the ranch was 4.5 hours so we stopped in a small crossroads halfway there that happened to be next to a river that had a few tiny bows in it.

The next day we made the trek over the pass to the ranch. The the 20 miles from the main road to the ranch is a 1.5 hour drive.

I went fishing right away.

Did some hikes, spent an afternoon looking for bull trout to no avail. I committed and through stream exclusively. Thus my catch rate was low.

Went fishing on Monday for an hour before dinner on a different trib and fishing was slow but the size was good.

I looked at my watch and realized I needed to hike back for dinner. I hopped out of the creek and stepped on a log to cross it and slipped and fell in way that I was falling perpendicular to the log and fell on to a broken off branch on the log, ripping my skin open. It didn't tear a hole in my pants so I knew I wasn't impaled, but it hurt like hell and I knew what I landed on. I walked limped 50 yards and noticed my pants were red halfway down. I dropped my pants to see how bad it was.. Oh Shit. Made it back to the ranch, the bleeding had mostly stopped and I rounded up someone for medical attention. And was advised to go get stitches and antibiotics. Unfortunately the nearest hospital is a 3 hour ride. We left the ranch at 6:30pm and decided to stay the night in Ketchum, so we wouldn't have to traverse the treacherous pass in the dark.

I was able to get out one more time before we had to go back to Boise. I was able to keep from getting my wound wet and the fishing was excellent!

This is definitely one of the most remote an beautiful places I have ever been. I think we are already planning on going back in two years.

When fishing, a person ought to carry a flask of whisky in case of snakebite. Furthermore, he ought to also carry along a small snake.

With a dose of scary.

Driver- Awesome country and trouts. but that big hole in your leg was a bummer. You should have claimed it was from a bear attack! Hope it has healed up.

(pretty fancy fly rod you were using too)

I've had that paella in the same restaurant in Boise after our trip, great little Basque restaurant area in downtown Boise! Great area, we did the N. Fork of the Salmon float/fish trip several years ago, looks like same area. Great fishing and landscapes!
Sorry about the leg, glad its healing, just another reason to go back!
My picture weighs more than your picture.
