My daughter married a great young man and he & I have talked about fishing a great deal, so we finally made it happen this weekend.

He loves the outdoors, but hasn't really spent time on rivers.  We fixed that:

He noticed the shelf fungi while we sat down for a snack:

I played guide most of the day, taking turns with fishin' buddy who introduced him to a Euro rig for about an hour.  He caught his first trout, a stocker 'bow, but a trout nonetheless:

Saw the first Eastern Tiger Swallowtail of the season:

I didn't expect to see a hatch, but we hit one mid-afternoon of significant amounts of March Browns, and I had a whopping 4 of the right size flies in my boxes.  They hit non-stop for about an hour, then the wind kicked up and cooled things off.  Lots of fun for his first trip out.  I didn't create a fishing monster, much to my daughter's excitement (I had to promise to have him home before 1opm).

All-in-all, a great day.
