One out of every five days on the water this year.
I'll take that. And I feel very fortunate.

The Smiff was stuck at 500ish. And the bitch skunked me on Monday.
Went to a stream that should fish good.
But it vexed me in March. Similar conditions today.
What say ye?

I came in from the bottom and looped around on a established trail.
I appreciated the vigorous hike in. I might have worked off a slice of pie and a cookie?!
It's a rugged, pretty stream. Lots of cool wildflowers.

I started with a dry/dropper.
Nothing.
Switched to a smaller girdlebug.

I dredged a lot of good water.
Then I got a tug.

Oooh, a brown to start. Could be a slam day?!

Temps kept going up.
Midges were swarming. A few BWO's were coming off.

Switched back and forth between dry and nymph.

Kept going uphill with no bites.
I was in sight of the turn around point.
When I got nothing from this honey hole  b'; , I wound up and hiked up to the trail and out.

A nice walk in the woods on a lovely day, if nothing else.
See you blokes in the new year.

 :cheers

That looks a hell of a lot better than my day. Glad you got out.

Nice work.

What is above the cascade, dead flat water, or more cascade?

Trout fishing across my area waters took a nosedive in the last couple years in the imo.

Looks about like my day Monday.  Went out in hopes the warmer weather would turn them on, but it ended up being colder than forecasted.  I ended up catching a skunk.  Oddly enough, it was the first skunk I wasn't upset about.  It was a beautiful day on a beautiful river, and I was just grateful and blessed to be there.  I told my daughter I didn't go fishing, I just went hiking but happened to do it up a creek.
