Post Thanksgiving Turkey Burn

Haven't gotten out in a while and with the long holiday weekend I had an opportunity to sneak away for a day.  Originally planned on fishing with Ken on Sunday, but weather forecast looked rainy for Sunday and Ken couldn't fish all day Saturday.  What Ken and I were planning on doing was pretty asinine, especially solo.  Changed my location I was fishing and Fin decided to join last minute.

Bonus Thanksgiving food pics. Smoked turkey, mac, and some pumpkin pie.









The reasons why I never fish anymore, but they are worth it.. Sometimes....



Hit the stream early and got into fish on the first pool.  Was expecting the rest of the stream to be on, but boy were we wrong.



It was slow.  Landed about 10 fish, but there were hour stretches without a bump between flurries of activity.  Tungsten and working heads of pools slowly were key.  Water was gin clear.  No spawning activity, no reds seen.

Good day to get out and landed some small stream browns.  Definitely will be back here in the spring.

Thanks for letting me tag along... I think? Had the most painful leg cramps EVER that evening while lounging in bed. I've always heard getting old ain't for sissies. Just turned 48 and I'm already starting to become a believer.

I think that is why Doug eats bananas while hiking and in boats and wonders why he gets skunked, but no cramps.
