Ours friend's property in WV has a private trout stream on it.
Interesting geology. Lots of flat rock, shaley, peat colored water.
Runs out of a red spruce, beech, hemlock, birch, oak forest.
Lots of fern and moss.



I had fished it twice before, but had never got up to what should be plungy water.
Would the water hold up? Would the fish hold up?

It had dumped some rain days before and the little stream had gone up, and down, 18-24". 









I was catching small fish. Then I would hit a bigger hole and pick up a 7-8" fish or two.







A passed a couple of tribs as I went up and the stream narrowed.
Then a hundred yards went by with no fish.
I had my answer.
Hiked out.

Went downstream below the truck and fished that section for the first time.









Fished a 7' old tobacco glass rod I had converted from spin to fly.
I really like it. Wright and McGill Green Hornet 7'.



Got the truck muddy, caught about 15 feesh and answered some questions.
I'll go down to where the stream starts to go underground and work back up next time.
