Got out to one of my local (Fayetteville NC) bass ponds yesterday. This particular pond has a healthy crop of bass. I went solo. Wanted to test the waters before putting someone in the front of the canoe.

It took awhile but they started coming to hand. Ya' I know I'm not fly fishing but it is still fun. Plus, it is difficult to fly fish when you're solo in a canoe.

Back end of pond is very weedy with growth coming within 6-10 inches of the surface. Trick was to remove all weight from floating worm and bring it back across top of weeds. Once I figured that out I nailed several in consecutive casts

Nothing big this time. The ponds holds bass in the 6-8 pound range. Maybe next time. Need someone to hold down the front of the canoe. It is a bitch trying to fish solo with the wind spinning you around.

A weightless worm bite is always a hoot. Anybody eating topwater yet?

No, I have caught two at other places with a Whopper Plopper but tossed it here when it was where it would not get jammed with weeds without a hit.
