Had a few hours to sneak off to the hills Sunday afternoon after a rather wet two nights of camping with the Troop. I wasn't feeling terribly ambitious, so off to a flattish roadside stream in VA I went. The browns were there, but they were not eating, period. Saw a 16 incher and a couple 12s. The Fall bloomage was pleasant.

A friendly former angler who owned land alongside the road came down the driveway and proceeded to pump me for information about my interest in the area, and filled me in on who owned what and where on various area streams. He spoke about fishing Bullhead in the 80s, but now he just hunts. Before departing he gave some really beneficial landowner 411 on the best trout stream in the area!
With less than an hour to fish left in the day, I scurried to the escarpment for some quick brookie action.

Good looking fish and great looking pup.
Those are some plump brookies. Looks like a promising stream.
Congrats on the pup too.

Yes, but a mini. Purchased him to protect the garden from groundhogs and trash can pandas, but he's skeered of his own shadow. Smart little pooch tho.
Sounds like your encounter with the landowner was productive for sure. As for the new canine.....those glowing red eyes should scare the shit out of the local vermin!
Aussies are very smart. My two full size ones are 6 months old now but the gray marl one is pretty timid too.
