stand I'm not talking about the music which started at 8 and went past 10:30, and it was still hot then. Not even a whisper of a breeze to cool the sweat dripping from your brow. I felt for Jess Klien, Abigail Dowd, and her accompanist, Scott Sawyer on electric guitar.

The crowd was small, counting in at about 70, but we were all appreciative of the musical performances.

we saw and heard a lot Friday, Saturday and sunday. I didn't take any photos and only recorded some of the Steep Canyon Rangers, who closed out the show on Sunday evening.

I'll post some youtubes of other notable acts we heard later...

Another event at the Crazy Quilt was a mind blowing experience. We've seen and heard a bunch of talented musicians over the years but last night topped them all with Eric Brace and Thomm Jutz. They blend folk, Americana, and old-time sensibilities into a warm, acoustic tapestry marked by gentle guitar and vocal harmonies with themes of transportation by river, rail and automobile. Their music feels timelessly comforting and deeply reflective.

The potluck food wasn't bad either, just saying.

Wish we had something around here like this. It's so cool.
When fishing, a person ought to carry a flask of whisky in case of snakebite. Furthermore, he ought to also carry along a small snake.

Shelby Means
Born in the bluegrass of Kentucky and raised on Wyoming's high plains, Shelby Means is one of the foremost bassists in bluegrass, with nearly two decades of experience in bluegrass, folk, rock, Americana, and country. Now based in Charleston, SC, Means spent a dozen years in Nashville, TN. During that time she performed most notably as a member of the GRAMMY®-nominated all-women bluegrass band Della Mae. She later joined Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway on bass and vocals, earning her first GRAMMY ® win for their 2023 album, City of Gold. Shelby has a new self titled album just released where she collaborated with the who's who of bluegrass music. Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Michael Cleveland, Ron Block, Bryan Sutton, Molly Tuttle, Tim O'Brien, Billy Strings and more!

Joel Timmons
Joel Timmons is a dynamic songwriter, musician, and journeyman.  Growing up on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina, Timmons developed a deep connection to both music and the ocean, influences that permeate his artistic work.
His early years were marked by a passion for surfing and a love for music, cultivated in part by his mother, a photographer and park ranger at Fort Moultrie, a vibrant local arts scene and a close community of aspiring young musicians. In his childhood, Timmons' journey in music began in earnest when he met lifelong friends and musical collaborators, Ward Buckheister and Russell Clarke. The young musicians honed their craft through school band, choir, guitar clubs, and informal jam sessions. They formed Sol Driven Train in 2000, while they were in college.
In 2012, Timmons' life took a romantic and geographical turn when he met Shelby Means, at the time the bass player for bluegrass band Della Mae. Their connection led to the formation of the duo Sally & George, named after Means' grandparents. The duo's music captures their chemistry and shared life experiences, blending heartfelt lyrics with intricate melodies. Joel has a new album out titled "Psychedelic Surf Country"

Sally & George Live at Charleston Harbour Resort on 2017-05-12

The 'Boro Sessions presented Martha Bassett at the Flat Iron this past Sunday afternoon with part of her band, including Dashawn Hickman on pedal steel guitar, Rex McGee on banjo and fiddle, Pat Lawrence on bass, and Wendy Hickman jumping in on a couple of songs.

We've seen Martha at the Reeves Theater in Elkin for the Martha Basset Show in the past, that is a great show that we hope to revisit soon.
