Before switching to trouts for the summer I thought I would see if I could find any life in the river, plus run gasoline out of the motor on my Shad boat.
What a difference a few weeks makes. During Shad season this parking lot is full.....humm, not a good sign.
You cannot see attachments on this board.
No boats to be seen, either up or downstream.
But second or third cast starting catching these. The ole simple Clouser was the ticket.
Also, had some by-catch to content with.
After a couple dozen fish this fly was looking a little sad but, one more cast.....yep.
The east coast striper population is in decline but I was happy to see several year classes in the mix. Mashed down the barbs to make unhooking easier and to protect these great fish.
Striper action has been weak this year on the boards. Thanks for adding some striper content.
nice work if you can get it!
Fred is the man.
Great stuff, Fred!
Good report,Fred -- Bet that flat head had you thinking "monster striper" for a few minutes . I think that I would have put that channel cat in tha grease
Bet that flathead was fun. Did it outfight the rest of the crowd?
I like it.
