I actually got to go fishing!

Saturday was beautiful!!.... Sunday not so much.. Guess which day I could not go?

I almost talked myself out of it, because of the weather. But I needed to go. I didn't call anyone, I just went.

I had a list of places I wanted to go, but everything is BTFO. So I looked for some small drainages. I had a back up plan, but I wanted to try some new water. So I drove to the other side of the hill to check out a ditch that looked promising. I never left.

As I cross into VA it start raining, and didn't really ever stop.

I get out to get my waders on. Grab boots. FUCK! no boots.

I will have to vouch that Keen Detroit Mids make a pretty good wading boot, even with almost worn soles.

My first jaunt yeilded no fish. So drove a little further up stream. Water looked good. Not too high, crystal clear.

Hot Damn for sure! A trip report and a good one, plus some quality fish to make it even better. Glad you got out between what seems like daily rain events.

Wading boots are over rated as you found out.

Good work. Really surprised the dry fly action was that hot yesterday, but don't look a gift horse in the mouth

Stalk softly and carry a green stick.

It means don't question and examine something that is a gift.  Dry fly action on a day like Sunday doesn't make much sense when looking at how brook trout normal behave in March in the rain, but it shouldn't be questioned. Welcome that gift horse with open arms.

Hell yeah! Nice fishes! Everything around here is running at near flood stage and is the color of chocolate milk.

I had a day like that a few years ago where nothing should have gone right, but everything did.  Looks like a great day with some good fish.
