Friar Tuck and I fished once a couple of years ago. We have tried to get together for this and that. Especially a ceratin that.
To no avail.  b';
He had gone back to a stream I introduced him to recently and mentioned me joining him again.
Well shit. He's done gone and retired. I said what about tomorrow, and he said OK.

After suiting up and exchanging some good beers, we headed in.
Uh, this stream got whacked with high water was the first impression. Big time.
The hurricane rains sent it a couple feet higher and out of the banks. A lot of small brush and water vegatation was gone.
Lots of big wood was strewn everywhere. How are the fish?

We walked a few hundred yards before starting. Caught a few, but we weren't feeling it.

Hoped on our horses and cherry picked the primo spots going upstream. The goal was to go higher than we had been before.
One of the few places you see a good number of healthy hemlocks.

We got up to better water. More plungy.
And The good Friar stuck the fish of the day.  bd;0

The spawn is coming. They weren't on redds, but the action down low starts soon. I suspect it's started up higher.
No big numbers, but we schemed on some tribs he'll explore.
I eased down the road and went back to work.  b';
I leave you with a shot of one of VA's youngest volcanoes. Last eruption, 48 million years ago.

Florence really gave it to that stream good.  Glad some fish survived.  d:b

We didn't catch many but at least they were small!

Always enjoy exploring new wild water with a kindred spirit.

And Doug's BBQ is tasty.

Let's do it again.

Nice report.  You're in my neck of the woods.  Nice shot of Mole Hill...

That's a nice brookie.  And I can see by that back loop that Doug is fishing fiberglass

I bought one of the Cabelas CGR rods a couple years ago for small stream fishing, and I know it's on the cheaper end of glass rods, but boy is it fun.  Nice trip fellas.  That looks like a nice stream.  I love the rock wall in that one picture.
