I had no plans of traveling this year, but the Mrs. insisted I go west to clear my mind.  I've not been 100% since I lost both my parents, and she's a perceptive wife.

Plenty of fish, plus cowboy interaction and party – add a week without a shower and using an outhouse adds up to a judicious purge.

Nice. Good on ya, Stephen.

You've been worrying me, too. Luckily, I don't sleep with you.   n!n  -0-

Glad to see the trip treated you good.  Hope you are mentally refreshed and ready with the plans for your outhouse. Tell your wife if you have an outhouse you wouldn't need to go on these trips out west to recoup.

Attention plant geeks:  I am interested in this particular plant.  Is it a parasitic flower/plant?  On the roots of other veg?

I guess I miss a lot when i only check this once a month. Looks like you had a good trip. Sorry about the loss of your parents. I know you were very close.

Dougfish

Parasitic, yes. Sugarstick or Pinesap? Height, Stephen?

Pinedrop?

Many thanks!

I concur. Pinedrop.

Here's our eastern Pinesap. I found some about 6-7 years ago.
Only clumps I've ever seen. A pink/red version of Indian Pipes.

Monkshood. Aconitum columbianum, probably.

Deadly, deadly poisonous. To man and beast. Be glad you didn't lick your fingers.   :banana072:  -0-

Many many thanks!  I learned something.

I would have bet you could eat those pods/beans.  In fact we discussed surviving in the Snowy Range by finding and eating such plants as that Western Monkshood.  Greenhorns like us would have freaking died!!!!

I don't remember licking my fingers, but I know I scratched my balls constantly, after no shower for multiple days.  The jewels are still retaliating from lack of care.

Looks like a fine trip, Muddy. I gotta get back out there one of these days before I get too friggin old.

I could pass on the outhouse, but guess porta-johns are much the same sans mystique.
